Garrett Knapp named CFC Youth September Athlete of the Month

We are delighted to highlight Garrett Knapp as our CFC Youth September Athlete of the Month!

Garrett 'G Man' Knapp is a young athlete who truly represents what CFC Youth is all about. While he works hard to improve his soccer skills each and every day, his character, positive attitude and love for the CFC community are what stand out about him.

Knapp plays primarily as a forward for the CFC U9 White team.

His father, Brian, shared more about Knapp's achievements on and off the field.

"Off the pitch, Garrett is a standout student at Nolan Elementary. He maintains straight A’s, has perfect attendance and has earned character awards for respect and self-discipline. In recognition of his academic abilities, he was invited to participate in the school’s Gifted Program. His impact at school is reflected in a teacher’s comment: 'I wish I had a million Garretts.'

"Garrett's involvement in the Chattanooga FC community goes far beyond being a player. He serves as the unofficial official ball boy for the CFC First Team. 'G Man' is a familiar face at every home match. Through his dedication, maturity, and passion for the game, he has earned the trust and respect of players, coaches and staff members. He approaches this responsibility with professionalism well beyond his years and has built meaningful relationships throughout the club.

"He brings enthusiasm, energy and determination to every training session and game. His love for soccer is contagious. Garrett is a vocal leader on the field and can be heard encouraging his teammates by embracing the "Next Play" mentality often heard from first team Head Coach Richard Dixon. His actions show that being a great teammate is just as important as individual success."

Brian continued: "Garrett's passion for soccer extends well beyond team practices. He spends countless hours at home working on his skills through additional training on FlickTec and personal training sessions. His dedication to improving his game reflects his strong work ethic and genuine love for soccer.

Garrett first fell in love with soccer while attending Chattanooga FC matches and becoming part of the CFC community. Joining CFC Youth allowed him to turn that passion into an opportunity to grow both as a player and person. Since then, he has embraced every opportunity to learn, improve and contribute to the club.

One of Garrett's greatest strengths is his sportsmanship. He consistently shows respect to teammates, coaches, opponents and referees. He encourages others, celebrates team accomplishments and helps create a positive environment wherever he plays."

Jordan Mattheiss, Chattanooga FC VP of Business Operations, said: "Garrett is a wonderful example of what it means to have a true love for Chattanooga Football Club and the game of soccer. He has spent the past two years volunteering as a ball retriever for both our men’s and women’s matches. I can always count on 'G Man' to show up, take his job seriously and give it his very best. He works hard, takes pride in what he does, and, most importantly, he always has a smile on his face. Garrett brings so much joy and energy to matchday, and we’re lucky to have him as part of the Chattanooga FC family."

Everyone at Chattanooga Football Club celebrates 'G Man' and the outstanding example he sets on and off the field.
